2018-2019 Season Competition Results

O-Town Throwdown

The O-Town Throwdown is an invitational which changes hosts within the Olathe School District. For the 2018-2019 season, it was hosted by Olathe North High School on 17 November. ​

ThunderKat Klash

The ThunderKat Klash is an invitational which trades hosts from year to year. This season, it was hosted by Mill Valley High School on 1 December.

John Dedrick Memorial Northland Invitational

The Northland Invitational is an invitational with various hosts, and was hosted by Oak Park High School. Oak Park's Northland was renamed the John Dedrick Memorial Northland Invitational in memory of a science teacher who recently passed away at their school.  It was hosted on 26 January of the 2018-2019 season.

Warrensburg Invitational

The Warrensburg Invitational was an invitational hosted by Warrensburg High School. It took place on 2 February, and is the last competition of the BVN Invitational season before the official Regionals team is decided.

Pembroke Hill Invitational

The Pembroke Hill Invitational was hosted by the Pembroke Hill School on 30 March. It was originally scheduled for 12 January of the 2018-2019 season. It was postponed to 19 January due to safety concerns regarding snow, and once again to 30 March. Strangely enough, it also ended up snowing on that day, albeit without any issues. The State team had been decided by that point, and attendance was not mandatory,so turnout was low. It was the last invitational attended by BVN during the 2018-2019 season.

Northeast Kansas Regional Tournament

The Northeast Kansas Regional Tournament was the first official competition of the 2018-2019 season. It was hosted by Johnson County Community College and occurred 23 February. All Science Olympiad teams in Kansas compete at their respective Regional Tournaments for a chance to compete at the State level. In addition, any individuals (or partners) who place 1st at Regionals are allowed to compete at State, even if their team as a whole does not qualify, albeit their scores do not count towards the final rankings.

Kansas State Tournament

The Kansas State Tournament followed the NE KS Regional tournament and could only be attended if ranked 11th or higher. It was hosted by Wichita State University, and took place on 6 April of the 2018-2019 season. Select teams from Regional Tournaments around Kansas competed for the 1st Place slot for a chance to participate in the National Tournament.

Cornell University 2019 National Tournament

The 2019 National Tournament is the peak of all Science Olympiad tournaments. Only the winner of the Kansas State tournament was able to go. For the 2018-2019 season, it was hosted by Cornell University, and took place from 30 May to 1 June.
